So, what does this have to do with a Hollywood career you might ask?
Well, when disasters such as fires, riots, earthquakes or whatever strike the city of Los Angeles, there always seems to be a large number of people who decide to "pack it in" and go home -- wherever home might be. In my eighteen years of living here, I've seen whole show crews turn over when disaster strikes. Even though we have sunny 72 degree weather throughout most of the year, Los Angeles can be quite a stressful place to live. A major incident pushes some people over the edge and they just want out.
Over the next few days and weeks, it's extremely valuable to let others know that you're seeking a position in the industry. Also, be sure to watch the career sections and job classifieds on corporate websites like NBC, CBS and FOX as well as the job classifieds in the trades like VARIETY and THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. You'll more than likely start to see an influx of great opportunities come available as some people throw in the towel and head out of town for good.
