What does that mean you might ask? It means that much of Hollywood has come to a complete standstill. Many of the television shows have shut down and have started laying off their staffs. Film production is still moving forward, but only as long as there are scripts in the pipeline. Non-union projects are getting a lot of attention at the moment and I'll be providing a few resources for these projects later this week.
So, why aren't they talking? The hard part right now is getting both sides to sit down at the bargaining table again. This might be easier said than done in the short term. If the Writers Guild rally in Century City this past week is any indication, it's clear that there is a lot of anger and frustration on both sides and that no one is willing to give in on anything at this point.
The key right now is patience. For a bit more information on what's going on, see this article from DAILY VARIETY. As always, I'll be keeping you posted.
