As you may have heard, the WGA/AMPTP talks have stalled yet again. Nick Counter the lead negotiater for the AMPTP (The Alliance of Motion Picture & Television Producers) apparently walked in to the negotiations on Friday morning, made a brief statement and ended the meeting. There is no indication from either side as to when they might return to the bargaining table.
So, with hope of a 2007 resolution fading fast, you want to look to any opportunity you can find one of the many non-union productions. This will not only help to keep your skills fresh, but will also help introduce you a number of other people in the entertainment sector. One great place to find some of these positions is on Craigslist.org. Look under your particular city and then under the jobs header, and then finally under tv/film/video. You'll find a number of local non-union productions that might just be the perfect opportunity for you.
