The End of a Bizarre Pilot Season

Saturday May 24, 2008
With the writer's strike having come to an end in February the usual television pilot season has been thrown for a loop. The number of pilots were less than half of what they normally are with half-hour comedies being hit particularly hard. It's amazing that the networks and studios were able to cull together a pilot season of any sort considering the length of the work stoppage.

That said, some genuinely entertaining projects are headed to your TV set this fall. An absolute favorite is a half hour, single camera pilot tentatively called, "Worst Week". In the vain of The Office, it's based on a brilliant BBC series. The US version was written by Matt Tarsas and was directed by Marc Buckland (best known for his creative work on Arrested Development). Keep an eye out for it, I guarantee this is one series that should be a lot of fun and will hopefully begin to the reemergence of comedy on TV.
