TV Jobs -- Now Hiring!

Wednesday May 28, 2008
With pilot season behind us and the networks having made their programming decisions, there are a number of new positions that will need to be filled over the coming months. From writer's assistants, to cameramen, to make-up artists there will be many jobs available in a variety of categories. Now is the time to start networking to find your place on these staffs.

One of the most underrated yet highly effective ways to find out what shows are currently hiring is to do the tedious task of calling the production co-ordinators of each new and returning television production. You can find the numbers to every production office either on the websites of the trades Variety and Hollywood Reporter or by calling the studios that produce each show. (Again now you see why I said tedious.) Don't be afraid to do this. Nine times out of ten these people are looking for skilled individuals to take these positions and by making that job easier for them chances are you can make your way onto their hiring list. At the very least you might make a new friend (in Hollywood "friend" means contact you can use to get other jobs) or the person you get on the phone will help steer you closer to where you need to go.

Good luck!
