There are a number of organizations that support those pursuing a career in entertainment. From the numerous unions and guilds, to specialized clubs and subscriber based organizations that will help you on your entertainment career path. Here are profiles of some of the ones you may want to become familiar with.

Writers Guild of America

The Writer Guild is the union for all professional film and television writers. It is broken up into two segments, the Writers Guild of American West and the WGA East. It provides retirement and health insurance services for all writers as well as protection against corporate abuse.

Directors Guild of America

The Directors Guild of America is the union for all television and film directors. It provides retirement, insurance and healthcare services for all of its members.

Screen Actors Guild

The Screen Actors Guild is the union for all professional television and film actors. It provides retirement, insurance and healthcare services for all of its members. You can also use their website to find out who an actor is represented by (agency and/or management).

IATSE - International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees

IATSE is the labor union that represents all technicians, artisans and craftspersons in the entertainment industry. This includes live theatre, motion picture, television programs and trade shows.

The Scriptwriters Network - A Great Resource for Budding Writers

Since 1986, Screenwriters Network has been helping filmmakers, screenwriters, television script writers and even those involved in non-traditional media, take their writing to the next level. You join a group of members who are as varied as the SN guest speaker list, which includes movie writers and directors, television writers, video game writers, novelists, agents, managers and more.
